Since 2013, Cape Town Backgammon has centred itself on the idea of bringing casual players together around finding new opponents, hosting tournaments, having fun, and improving backgammon play in the community.
At present, Cape Town Backgammon has a thriving amateur scene, with weekly ‘drop-in’ meetups at Nish Nush on Bree Street. To find out when the next one is taking place, follow Cape Town Backgammon on Instagram, or join the “Cape Town Backgammon – social meet ups! 🎲🎲” WhatsApp group – the link is on the Instagram page bio.
For a decade, Cape Town Backgammon orientated around Round Robin leagues which expanded over time from 30 initial players up to 60 players within a few years. These in-person leagues were disbanded during the COVID-19 lockdown and play headed online.
