Local tournaments have been run in South Africa for a number of decades, but recordkeeping has been neither here nor there. In 2025, with SABGA joining WBGF, a more committed attempt to maintain records and award points for tournament success (and participation) will be undertaken, with qualifying tournaments being listed on the official WBGF page at:  https://results.wbgf.info/sabga/

Online Backgammon:

When South Africa went into COVID-19 lockdown in early-2020, the community went online and a large number of online tournaments took place over the next months, mostly run using Challonge.com and Backgammongalaxy.com.
