Wednesday nights in Tokai are quickly becoming a fixture on the local backgammon calendar.
Since its launch in February 2026, the Tokai Backgammon Club has built steady momentum, now attracting 15–20 players each week—and growing. Hosted by Steve Solomon at Bootleggers Tokai, the setting strikes the perfect balance: relaxed, social, and buzzing with just the right level of competitive edge. Backgammon gets underway at 6pm, with the venue open through to 9pm—giving players a full evening to settle in, compete, and connect. As an added bonus, Bootleggers runs a half-price burger special on the night, making it as appealing off the board as it is on it.
The club offers a mix of social games and upcoming tournament play, giving regulars and newcomers alike something to look forward to. Whether you’re sharpening your strategy or simply enjoying the flow of the game, there’s always action to be found. Importantly, the club is open to all levels. Experienced players will find strong competition, while beginners are actively encouraged to join—weekly coaching is available to help new players get up to speed and start enjoying the game quickly.
